I want I want I want

POGO POLAROID

" People who have been lamenting the death of the Polaroid will find solace in it"

"At night they would go walking
'till the breaking of the day.
The morning is for sleeping..
Through the dark street they go searching
To see God in their own way
Save the night time for your weeping..
Your weeping...

God is in the houses and god is in my head,
And all the cemeteries in London
I see god come in my garden but I don’t know what he said.
For my heart it wasn’t open..
Not open..."

- Cemeteries of London by Coldplay

Holes in Pockets

My all time most favorite song by The Verve
Currently ear-locked to: The Verve. Coldplay. The Killers. Oasis. Jason Mraz. Jack Johnson (old). Latest addition - SO7. Thank God for good music. Good music burn holes in pockets but grow and flourish happiness into souls . Note: Imported CDs are not cheap, period.

Hello 2009! You've been nice so far. Nice is good but not good enough. Please do not stay nice. 2008 had been rather fruitful, went places, did stuff - all in the name of discovering oneself, aiceh. My 2009 is - "to stand in the curiosity of life. In surrendering control, you'll create a space for possibilities to enter and treasures to flow". Ayuh.. !

On more recent news, last Saturday was nothing but great. Butters 'gitar kapok' unplugged session at Istana Budaya was BEAUTIFUUUUUL (honestly, that's exactly how I'd describe the event), great lighting, the set up and everything else and of course, a bunch of good musicians on top of all that.. (standing ovation).

Then few minutes of Sunday were spent with them:
Gabus at Booth

opocot

Where was I?

I forgot. To do. To write. To share. To stop. To keep in touch.

My life's a humdrum no more. Changes were naturally repelled at first but eventually welcomed and adopted. Confusing yet interesting most of the time, half the time challenging. (Un)Fortunately, I seemed to be liking it, and enjoying it all together.

I miss everyone. I am glad everyone seems to be doing great. Maturity has finally caught up with (most of) us, lets now put the wisdom to great use shall we?

Current craving : for leaders who genuinely think of his people rather that political power. Sudah-sudahla tu, shut up and get back to work, or can someone please take over?!! For God's sake, 2008 is almost over.

Latest book read : "Perihal Orang Melayu" by Frank Swettenhem, of his direct observations and conclusions from living among the Malays back then (1884). I have always been fascinated with this 'latah' habit among the Malays (Indonesians included) and why are they(we) the only ones with this trance-like behaviour; heredity perhaps? Minor mental disturbance? Mr. Swettenhem was equally fascinated too, and fully aware on how dangerous a person can be under the influence(??!). Seriously, if the person, while ' melatah', you were to ask him to kill somebody, he would do it straightaway, trust me he would. Mind bobbling isn't it? and he wrote (translated) "Latah juga pernah dikenalpasti di kalangan pemotong-pemotong kayu di Canada." I wonder how they do it, like, "opocot mak engkau" in English?! Dang.

On a non-related issue, how convenient is convenient enough. Convenient should never be mistaken with love. Tell me how would you feel if the person you love and want to spend the rest of your life with, only chose to marry you because you are convenient to him. Friends, stay friends, because you are convenient to them, tak menyusahkan mereka, not because they can't live without you, or life is no fun without you in it. Sucks ey? Friends who sought companionship, going to concerts and what not, only when they have no one else around to join them. Claimed lovers who only listens to you while you were telling great jokes, not when you need to bitch about work. Parents who only listen to their kids after the milk has been spilled, not before, brushing off kids when they asked for guidance on how to properly pour the milk into the bowl in the first place. Where am I going with this? Loved ones aren't necessary the most convenient ones, but you suck up to their annoyances just because you love them. It is much suck-ier to be the convenient ones.

Oh well. Suck it up people. Selamat berpuasa

I found this footnote indicating the origin of my favorite 'life mantra', the Desiderata.
Very good advice. True to the core.
"Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection."

Last but not least, one good piece of news on my birthday-mate (different year of course), Raul Gonzalez Blancho.
The Raul Gonzales.

Sleep deprived, too lazy to write. What more to say, I am just a fan. Adios

instant

made in Thailand

Reckless minivan drivers, 'ralfting', Squareone, simba, not-so-spicy tom yam, bachelor party, topi carik makan, show girls - golf ball, a very long thread and fishes coming out from unlikely places, Patong Beach, overcoming the fear for stray dogs, not-so-skinny dipping, rashes from dirty swimming pool, lunch on Phi Phi, walked to the middle of a sea during low tide, Khai Beach, feeding the monkeys bananas, Maya Bay, kayaking without a life jacket, McDonalds,
11 supermarket, effective "smoking is dangerous" warning on cigarette boxes, deaf Thais, being ripped off in Bangla Road, bargain shopping everywhere else, rejuvenating Thai massage, last minute shopping, Indian Thais, hungry on board.

Almost (doesn't count) - expensive Muay Thai, very cheap bungee jump. Oh well, there's always next time.
