forwarded email

Oh before I forgot, again.

I've been bothered for quite some time by this one forwarded email sent by someone I've known from primary school. The email listed the Malaysian cabinet ministers and their educational background and qualifications.
Eg : Dato' Samy vellu - tingkatan 6 skolah mana tah.
Pak Lah - pengajian Islam from this one Uni. (I've deleted the email, so no reference for now).
Then another list of the Singaporean cabinet ministers, impressive educational background of Cambridge, Imperial College, Harvard and what not.
Attached with were the insults on how stupid our cabinets are in comparison.

HELLO, do you know how hard it was back then to get into a University?
Do you know how harder it was to even attend an English school, the only platform for 'English' exposure that ensure you a place for a higher education abroad?!!
and do you know how much money it takes, with little awareness in our nenek moyang to even send their children to school in the first place?!
Don't you realised that a degree from UM worths much more back then than a Master nowadays?!

Maybe the Singaporeans have more-exposed parents that knew how important education is, that maybe they have the money to send their children to English school hence better chances to be accepted to Cambridge and the rest of those premier U's.

I'm not saying that eduction is not important, it is just not THE most important thing there is.
To lead you need wisdom, and heart, and vision.
Plus, how many qualified Malaysians out there dare to take the challenge in leading this country of ours?
How many young pros, highly educated people out there who dare to become a politician, make a different and help the people? (What? Khairy Jamaluddin? Oh puhleezzz).
Especially nowadays, what's with getting 19A's for SPM? Aren't 9-10A's are enough?
Do they really lead a stable life getting all the A's like that? Do they get a better job, a better life?

Maybe. Maybe not. There's something amiss despite those academics achievements.
Anybody who knows the answer and has a solution, silalah bertanding untuk jawatan Menteri Pendidikan.

uhhh i don't you can't buy your way into harvard, cambridge and the like...but u're rite. amik 20 subjects for SPM is just plain ridiculous. It just shows there is something terribly wrong with our education system.malaysians are obssessed with A's.Don't they realise that 'average' starts with letter 'A' too? The teachers at school should be more attentive to their students. know what is their best quality, their interest. Give guidance to the students, give them more info about working life so that the kids will a have a clearer picture of what they want in life.Right now the students have no idea what they want to do so they just take all the subjects. So, when evryone else see 19-20 A's as an accomplishment, I just see it as redundancy, overkill and showing self insecurity. i see the current requirement to get into local universtites, thank god I was born 6 years earlier haha. adakah komen ini terkeluar tajuk? selamat malam.

haha! definitely within the topic.
can't agree more. nevertheless, i was emphasizing on the differences between now and then, that we should be proud of our local graduates of yester-years, etc.

in a way, we should be grateful that its easier nowadays to actually get an education plus the whole change of mindset on how important education is compared to before, it is a change for the better.

it's the system that needs some adjustment.. eventually, we'd get it right, insya Allah
